Andrea Starkey of Starkey Art.
I am lucky enough that Andrea is a friend of ours. She works with the hubs and is making quite a name for herself in Dayton, OH and beyond. We are lucky enough to have one of her pieces and I can honestly say that online pictures do not do them justice. She is a perfectionist when it comes to her work and it shows. This mom of two will stay up all night to make sure that her woodcuts are just right along with her process. One day we hope to have a 'series' of hers in our home, but for now we love the one we have and so will you!
I should mention she also has a blog that follows and describes her process...you may want to check that out as well!
I have been a knitting fool, and unless I want to drive the hubs crazy, I need to start updating my shop to pass along these knits. Although I believe a girl can never own to many scarves or neck warmers, well others might beg to differ. SOOOO here is my first piece, and don't you worry, there is a lot more coming!
Did I mention this was made from partially recycled yarn?
Now that it is fall and officially feels like fall, the other side of Q has been cooking like a mad woman! Butternut sqaush soup (my favorite!), white chicken chili, four cheese pasta and don't forget the scones have all been making multiple appearances in our kitchen.
This week I accepted the hubs challenge to create a pumpkin scone with maple glaze as good as the usual orange cranberry ones. At first try, these aren't that bad. They taste like mini pancakes on the go, not sure if that is a good thing or not. We will just have to wait for the taste tester to make it home. Until then, they do make for some pretty pictures! Once I am confident with the recipe, I will be happy to share!
Now that the weather is getting colder and there is a little bit more of hibernation in our future, I am determined to really get to know Nina, my sewing machine that is. Of course there has to be a project that gets the wheels turning and I have been playing around with the idea of making 'plushies'. There are a lot of new little ones in our circle of family and friends and I thought they seem like they could be useful gifts, and fun to make in the meantime. So looking for some inspiration who do you turn to? Etsy of course! Not to copy (NEVER!!!!) Just for some ideas and confidence that they are do-able. So without much further ado, here are a few of my favorites (definitely makes me wish it were okay to have a few of them laying around on our bed but don't really think the man would be favor of that!).

Please don't hold your breath to see what I come up with (HA!), you would have better luck purchasing one of these instead!
If you are in Chicago, you MUST GO! The man and I won't be able to make it this year (yeah! a wedding, boo! not in Chicago). Honestly, in case you haven't been, this is probably the best run fair that I have ever been to. Great location, great vendors, so organized....it's a must. If you need more info http://www.renegadecraft.com/chicago and if you go and want to let me know of any vendors that I should check out, please drop me a line! Now GO!
Thank you Lena for including my print in your Etsy Treasury 'H O M E'. What an honor to be among such fantastic pieces. I would he happy to own each one of these items in our home...someday!
I have had the pleasure of seeing the work of Cynthia Vardhan in person. She was displaying her wares at Cincinnati's Crafty Supermarket this summer. I love ceramics, all kinds, but her work is really unique and beautiful, definitely check it out! Here are a few pieces from her Etsy shop.
rebranding...refocusing....taking a long time!
hope all are enjoying your summer!
